ESOL Cambridge Test Study Guide
The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Test allows non-native English speakers to prove their proficiency of the English language. This is usually needed for academic or employment purposes. This exam is offered by the University of Cambridge, who also administers certification of ESOL teachers.
There are several ESOL exams available that cover specific subject matter in the English Language. Applicants should assess the different exams available and make sure they choose that which is best suited for their purpose.
ESOL Exams Offered:
· General English – covers the general use of the English language in conversations and different situations.
· Professional English – covers the use of the English language in a business environment. This exam is used by employers to determine whether a non-native English speaker is eligible for employment.
· Academic English – measures a student’s ability to read, listen to, and understand the English language. This exam is globally used by Universities and Colleges where English is the primary language used for teaching.
· Young Learners English – offered for children aged 7-12 who may need to prove their proficiency in the English Language, primarily for academic purposes.
